The Roman Cat Word Cloud
I’ve generated a word cloud based on the interviews I conducted with visitors to Powis Castle.
I find word clouds fascinating. I love words (working in publishing I work with words all day) and I am a visual person so combining in an interesting way the two excites me.
A lot can be gleamed about a subject or an object by looking at descriptive language. Displaying words like this in a visual way creates an interesting piece of artwork I think. Seeing the words that people used to describe and talk about the cat here, mixed up and juxtaposed next to other words, produces an analysis of how people perceive and respond to the Roman Cat statue.
This is another way of looking at our relationship to objects. Here, language is used to create an impression and describe a relationship that so far I’ve only done visually with video and drawings.
