Testing my work at the Shrewsbury Art School Annual Summer Show
This week and next, the Art School at Shrewsbury College are open to the public with their annual end-of-year Art Show and for my part I’ve included the work I’ve completed for the Powis Castle project so far. This is the Objects animation and prints of the objects images and a work-in-progress version of the Cat video and the drawings of the cat made during the preparation of the animation.
I hope to get some feedback from the good people of Shrewsbury on what I’ve produced so far.
I have displayed the prints outs from the iPad Objects animation in a grid of 12.
The cat drawings have been set out in a grid of nine and held up by bulldog clips.
Although the two videos are very different, there is a relationship between the two and between them and the accompanying images. They are all individually obscure yet as a group less so. They all only make sense in the context of the accompanying video. They are all about process and not final product. They all illustrate the relationship between people and objects. At least, that is my aim.
The videos are quite different. The iPad video is all about rhythm and even pace. The cat video is a collage of ideas, thoughts, comments, styles and images. I hope that they contrast well together.
I would like to get some constructive feedback which will help me realise the direction I should take as I get towards the time of the final exhibition. Watch this space.
